Reminders:
To help keep all our students and staff healthy, please follow these handbook guidelines when deciding whether to send your child to school:
Fever: If your child has a temperature of 100Ā°F or greater, they must stay home until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
Vomiting: If your child has vomited within 24 hours of the school day, they must remain home.
Diarrhea: If your child experiences diarrhea, they must stay home until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours.

Race for Education Letters went home on Wednesday 3/19. In order to qualify for the prizes and awards, the students will need to return the signed, addressed, and sealed envelopes to school by April 2nd.

Monday Things to Know:
Week of March 24th-28th:
Reading: We will continue on unit 5: lesson 23: How Things Grow, in our reading series. We will read the story, "Oscar and the Frog," & "Zinnia's Flower Garden," in order to understand setting, character, and story sequence. We will learn our 6 new sight words; she, all, over, when, her & some. We will read our sight words in sentences. We will use our book handling skills in order to read,"My Pet Dog" & "Ben and Jen" We will review our alphafriends- Ee-Edna Elephant. We will continue to recognize, produce and identify rhymes. We will continue to work on beginning sounds/ending sounds and sounding out CVC words; ie. C-A-T. We will review proper nouns for Months and Days of the week. We will blend words with long E and short e.
Sight words: I, like, the, and, see, we, a, to, come, me, with, my, you, what, are, now, how, is, many, of, so, where, but, came, find, from, on, this, be, into, that, who, will, your, go, for, here, they, soon, up, give, make, new, play, say, them, good, said, was, then, ate, could, she, all, over, when, her & some
Math: We will finish up unit 12: Subtraction. Students will form subtraction stories and write them using symbols (-). Students will be able to understand the concept of subtraction or ātaking away.ā Students will also master subtraction fluency within 5. Students will be able to subtract sets using objects and pictures. We will continue to review subtraction up to 10. We will be able to demonstrate when addition or subtraction are being applied.
Handwriting: We will be working on our FIRST and LAST names Kindergarten style. A capital letter at the beginning of our name and the rest lowercase. (ie. Deirdre Callinan).
Religion: The children will recognize the need to forgive. and be forgiven. We will recognize the importance of forgiveness. We will listen to the story, "The Forgiving Father." We will identify that God is our forgiving father. We will listen to the Stations of the cross.
Social Studies: We will start a new unit on Symbols. We will learn about USA Symbols. We will learn about the White House, the Bald Eagle, Mount Rushmore, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington Monument.
