Pizza Hot Lunch: For those who pre-ordered hot lunch, please remember to send your child’s lunchbox to school so the hot lunch slip can be placed inside. We go outside for recess before lunch, and without a lunchbox, the slip may blow away! Thank you for helping us keep those lunch slips safe!

To help keep all our students and staff healthy, please follow these handbook guidelines when deciding whether to send your child to school:

Fever: If your child has a temperature of 100°F or greater, they must stay home until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
Vomiting: If your child has vomited within 24 hours of the school day, they must remain home.
Diarrhea: If your child experiences diarrhea, they must stay home until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours.

Harvest Festival Info:

The Harvest Festival is an annual tradition at St. Ursula School and is an event the entire St. Ursula Harvest Festival community looks forward to each year. The Harvest Festival includes fun family games, crafts, delicious food, prize wheels, and much more!

50/50 Raffle Tickets

This year's Harvest Festival will include our annual 50/50 raffle. Each family will be given tickets to sell. Tickets will be coming home with your child soon. If you would like additional tickets, please let the office know. Please send the ticket stubs (the portion with the buyer’s information) and money back to the school office as soon as possible. Also, please label the envelope: Harvest Festival 50/50 Raffle.

Commemorative T-shirt

Join us in celebrating this year's Harvest Festival with a commemorative t-shirt! This shirt is 100% cotton. Students who order may wear this on Thursday, October 8th and be out of uniform. Cake Donations

Earn 1 hour for each of the following: 1 cake, 24 cupcakes, one 13x9 pan of brownies. (Limit 4 hours from baking items for Harvest Festival) Homemade items only! – No store-bought items count toward service hours.

Attending the Festival:

Thursday, October 8th - Students will attend the festival during their assigned time below. Parents/guardians who will be attending Harvest Festival with a student on Thursday, October 9th, will need to enter school through the playground doors to receive an identification badge before attending the festival. Monday Things to Know:

Week of September 28th-October 2nd:

Reading: We will start unit 1: "How Can We Get Along With New Friends?" in our Wonders Reading Series. We will listen to the story, "What About Bear?" in order to learn about the parts of a book, characters and character feelings. We will listen to the story ,“The Lion and the Mouse," in order to build oral vocabulary skills. We will listen to We will learn, identify, and practice writing the letter; Mm. We will connect the sound /m/ to the letter m and write the uppercase and lowercase. We will identify items with the beginning Mm sound. We will name the first sound in a group of words (beginning sound) We will work on ending sounds (last sound in a word). We will practice reading, writing, and spelling the sight word; the. We will review all 3 sight words; I, can & the. Students will build confidence recognizing and using this important sight word in their reading and writing. Students will be working on syllables and rhyming words.

Math: We will be working on Patterns. We will identify, continue, and create patterns using colors, shapes and objects. We will continue to write and identify numbers 0-5.

Handwriting: We will be working on our FIRST names Kindergarten style. A capital letter at the beginning of our name and the rest lowercase. (ie. Deirdre Callinan).

Religion: We will continue on our Religion series; "Blest are We." Unit 3:" God Creates People." We will learn that we can appreciate God creates and loves all people. We will understand that God created people who love them. We will realize that because God and other people love them, they can love, too. We will learn about St. Francis and have our stuff animals bless-Blessing of the animals on Thursday!

Social Studies: We will complete a mini unit all about farms. We will identify and describe what they see and learn during a virtual visit to a farm. We will identify and name common farm animals and recognize their characteristics. We will describe how food travels from a farm to our table and sequence the process.

Here’s how it works: I’ll send home flyers like these throughout the year. If you decide to place an order, you can do that through our class ordering page. Your books will arrive at school about 10 days after I submit our classroom order.

By teaming up with Scholastic, we’ll help your child become a more confident, independent reader—and we’ll build a classroom library all of my students are excited to explore!
