PHSA is hosting a Used Uniform Sale tentatively scheduled for Sunday, August 2nd in the gym. We will be collecting uniform donations through the end of the school year. Donations can be dropped off at the school office.

To help keep all our students and staff healthy, please follow these handbook guidelines when deciding whether to send your child to school:

Fever: If your child has a temperature of 100°F or greater, they must stay home until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
Vomiting: If your child has vomited within 24 hours of the school day, they must remain home.
Diarrhea: If your child experiences diarrhea, they must stay home until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours.

Monday Things to Know:

Week of May 26th-29th:

Reading: We will finish up unit 6: Lesson 30:Good Neighbors! We will listen to the story, "Pet Show" in order to identify characters from the story. We will also read, "Miss Bindergarten celebrates the last day of school," in order to identify main idea and details from the story. We will identify characters, setting, key details and author's purpose from the stories. We will use our book handling skills in order to read "Max is Up!" and "A Fun Job," in our student readers in small groups. We will use clues from the pictures to help me read and we will sequence the story after we read in small groups. We will review all of our sight words from unit 6! We will use our sight words to write/read them in sentences. We will recognize, write, and learn the beginning sound of the vowels; A, E, I, O, U. We will continue reviewing rhyming, initial, ending and middle sounds, and parts of a word with Heggerty.

Math: We willfinish up our unit 14: Money. Students will gain and understanding coin names and counting coins. Students will identify and recognize a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter, determine the value of each coin, and count groups of coins to find the total amount. We will sort coins into groups.

Handwriting: We will be working on our FIRST & LAST names Kindergarten style. A capital letter at the beginning of our name and the rest lowercase. (ie. Deirdre Callinan).

Religion: We will learn about Jonah and the Whale. We will be able to retell the story of Jonah and the whale in sequence. We will be able to explain that Jonah tried to run away from God. We will be able to describe how God kept Jonah safe inside the whale.

Social Studies: We will do a mini unit on Insects. We will identify common insects such as butterflies, ants, bees, ladybugs, and caterpillars. We will be able to describe basic insect body parts including the head, thorax, abdomen, wings, and legs. We will be able to explain that insects have six legs and three body parts. We will identify where insects live and how they help nature.
