Rights and Responsibilities Study Guide
Right- Something someone can not take away from you.
Examples of rights:
Freedom to Vote-Help choose leaders.
Freedom of Religion- Practice and religion you choose.
Freedom of Assembly- Allows for people to gather in peaceful groups.
Freedom of the Press- Allows you to speak about your opinions to media( news paper, radio, magazine, and the news)
Freedom of Speech- Allows you to speak your opinion
Responsibility- Something you are expected to do. It also can be a rule or a law.
Examples of Responsibilities-
Vote at 18
Go to school
Pay Taxes (You get this taken out of your paycheck to pay the government for goods and services)
Follow laws
Serve on a jury at 18 (Jury decide if you have broken the law)
Respect others properties
There are many more responsibilities you have in the classroom and at home!
Citizen- A person that belongs to a group or community.
A decision that is made for the entire community is a decision made from the common good. Common good benefits or helps everyone.
Volunteer- A citizen who helps in their community without getting paid.
Consequences- A punishment you face if you break the law or you are not a responsible citizen.
