Meet Mrs. Ortmann

Hello! My name is Stephanie Ortmann and I am a third grade teacher at Eastwood Elementary. I believe that every child has the ability to do great things! Students quickly become comfortable in the accepting, family-like environment that we create together in our classroom. Students take responsibility of their learning and their actions as we develop a strong, caring, and positive learning community. Our classroom is a safe place where students feel comfortable taking academic risks and pushing themselves further to learn. Open and frequent communication is important to me between both students and parents. I welcome questions, concerns, and sharing of great happenings. Please don't hesitate to contact me, I am here to help and listen. I want the very best for all of my students and know that when parents and teachers work together, we create the best possible scenario for our kiddos.

I attended Sturgis Public Schools and graduated in 2000. I went on to obtain my Associates Degree in General Studies from Glen Oaks Community College. I transferred to Tri-State (now Trine) University and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a Middle School Science Endorsement. In 2018, I earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I began my teaching career in 2005 where I taught for seven years at Howe Military School. I became part of the Eastwood family in 2012 and have loved teaching third grade ever since!

I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Michael, since 2005. Together we have two wonderful boys, Mason and Brayden. I enjoy cooking, baking, reading, being outside, and spending time with family and friends.

I look forward to a fantastic year with all of my students! If you need to contact me, you can do so through email: sortmann@sturgisps.org or phone: 269-659-1560 ext.43304.
