Final exams are now scheduled for June 18 & 22-24. See details here.
All Sturgis 10th-grade students will take their MCAS Math exams on Tuesday, May 19th, and Wednesday, May 20th. It is important that they be in school on time for those days, be well-rested, and have a good breakfast. Rosters and room assignments will be posted in the hallways. Students should bring a good writing utensil with them as well as a pleasure reading book, as they may not work on schoolwork after they have completed testing. They will remain in the testing space from 8:20-11:35 (or longer if they need more time to finish).
As part of our Annual Report process, we are sending the THIS LINK to the Parent Survey to you as a means of gaining your feedback about our school. Please take a few minutes to answer the questions by no later than Friday, May 22. We value your input and look forward to reviewing the results of the survey so that we can continue to enhance the excellent program that we offer to Sturgis students. The results of the survey will be included in our Annual Report to the Department of Education and will be available for parents in late August.

Students who are writing IB exams this year (all grade 12, some grade 11) should be aware that IB Exams are April 27-May 20, 2026. Full details can be found on the Sturgis IB Office website. Please ensure your student will be in school on all of these dates. Elective appointments or engagements (e.g. dentist, vacation) should be scheduled for other times. If you have any questions, please contact Julie Carman, IB Coordinator at jcarman@sturgischarterschool.org
Dear Sturgis Families,
In May 2025, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education voted to amend its regulations on the Competency Determination (603 CMR 30.00). School districts are required to develop a Competency Determination (CD) policy that details how students demonstrate mastery of Math, English, and Science. Sturgis’ CD policy was approved by both our Board of Directors and the Department of Education within the last couple of months. You can access it here or on the school website.
One new step for demonstrating mastery is that 9th grade students must pass their Biology final exam and 10th graders must pass their English and Math final exams by earning at least a 60%.
For your planning, please note that due to the snow days, Wednesday, June 24th, is the last day of school. Final exams are scheduled for June 18, 22, 23 and 24. It is important that your child be present to complete their final exams. See here to view the final exam schedule.
Sincerely,
Jenn Kirk
West Principal
