Junior Parents: Important announcement regarding SATs:
If your student registered for either the May 4th or June 1st SAT, please be sure to read through the confirmation email sent to your student by Collegeboard. The College Board began administering the new digital SAT this spring. You will see that students are now responsible for bringing their own device (laptop or chromebook) to the SAT, and they have to download the Blue Book test application to that computer prior to the test day.
1) If your student is planning on bringing their own computer, please be sure they have followed the steps in the email from College Board to download Blue Book on their computer.
2) If they are planning on bringing (or borrowing) a school-issued Chromebook, they must complete this form and the tech department will help ensure Blue Book is working on your school device.
These steps must be completed ONE WEEK prior to the date of their scheduled SAT (April 26th for May 4th test OR May 24th for June 1st test) to ensure our tech department has enough time to help troubleshoot any issues. Please reach out to your child's counselor if you have any questions.

Families from the Lower Cape
We are collecting names of people who are interested in using the DART bus service. The DART bus is currently bringing some students from the Shaws Market in Orleans to the East Campus each morning. There is a possibility of them including a drop off at the West Campus and of planning a return run if there is enough interest.
If you may want to use this service, please complete THIS FORM.
Message from the School Nurse:
We are seeing an increase of respiratory illness both in school and in the greater community. In light of this, the Department of Public Health (DPH) has released new guidelines to control the spread of these respiratory diseases that include COVID-19. The guidelines from DPH can be found here: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/staying-home-to-prevent-the-spread-of-respiratory-viruses.
Sick Day Rules Reminder:
Keep your child home when:
They do not feel well.
They develop new symptoms of respiratory illness including cough, sore throat, or runny stuffy nose especially if they have multiple symptoms.
They have a temperature over 100.0°F and/or have needed medication to lower their temperature in the last 24 hours.
They have vomited.
They have diarrhea.
Your child can return to school when:
They are feeling better and symptoms are getting better.
It has been 24 hours since they have taken medication to lower their temperature and their temperature has been lower than 100.0°F for 24 hours.
It has been 24 hours since they last vomited.
It has been 24 hours since they last had diarrhea.
If your child comes to school with any of the above symptoms, including a cough, they will be sent home by the school nurse. Continue to use the attendance reporting form and indicate what symptoms your child is having when they are home sick.
Illness/Injuries: Please notify the school nurse if your child has been diagnosed with a communicable disease by their pediatrician or other healthcare professional or if your child is injured especially if they are returning to school with crutches, a brace, or any other orthopedic assistive devices.
Ninth and Tenth grade parents: Check your email for a letter regarding the upcoming state mandated health screenings taking place in April and May for your student.
Parents of students that are age 16+: Massachusetts requires students to receive a second dose of the quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (vaccine names include Menactra, Menveo and MenQuadfi) that protects against 4 serotypes (A, C, W and Y) of meningococcal disease when they turn 16. Be sure to ask your child’s healthcare professional about this when they turn 16. Below are resources with more information about meningitis and the vaccine: Meningococcal disease and students commonly asked questions: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/mening/public/index.html.
Vaccination status: If your student is not vaccinated or only partially vaccinated for religious purposes the school requires a note to be on file in the health office. This needs to be updated yearly. Keep in mind that unvaccinated students may be excluded from school if there is an outbreak of a communicable disease in the school community.

Sturgis is honored to be selected by the United States Department of Education as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School.
See a video announcing the award HERE.
Read the letter from Executive Director, Paul Marble HERE.
U.S. News and World Report's 2023 public high school rankings identify Sturgis as the #4 public high school in the state, #179 in the country, and #48 charter school nationwide!
These rankings recognize and reflect our staff, students, parents, and trustees' commitment to our mission of IB For All. This year's rankings are especially well-earned, I find, as they are based on data from the 2020-2021 school year, which was a time when we demonstrated tremendous resilience and resourcefulness as a community.
Congratulations!!!!
