We’re excited to invite you to the Sturgis College Application Boot Camp, happening on Tuesday, August 19th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sturgis East.
This is a great opportunity to get a head start on your college applications before the school year begins. You’ll have support from counselors to help you feel confident and prepared as you begin the process.
Please remember to bring your laptop or Chromebook to Boot Camp. If you need to borrow a device, just send a quick email to your School Counselor—we’re happy to help.
~This event is for students in the class of 2026 only~
Attention PARENTS OF JUNIORS:
On May 27, ALL juniors will participate in the Collaborative Science Project, an IB requirement (see info below). It is imperative that all juniors are present. Any students who miss a portion of the CSP will have to make it up with a project during their senior year. If you are scheduling a junior's absence due to doctors' appointments, etc. we ask that you avoid these dates if possible.
All IB science students must complete a Collaborative Science Project as part of the required IB science practical program. The following elements are expected from the Collaborative Science Project :
Interdisciplinary collaboration
Appreciation of the implications of science and the limitations of scientific study
Development of teamwork
Development of planning skills
Exchange or sharing of both data collected and issues raised
Approximately 10 hours of involvement time
Every year, our juniors tell us how much they enjoy this break from the normal routine to dive into a creative science project of their own design! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mrs. Kristine May (kmay@sturgischarterschool.org), Science Department Lead.
