Sturgis East Weekly Update
Important Changes to CCRT:
As of January 1st, Charlie Cards are no longer being used, and will be replaced by the new GO card.
Set up your account at https://capecodrta.org/goapp/
All questions regarding transferring funds to the new card should be directed to info@capecodrta.org
Students on Financial Assistance who receive Charlie Cards from Sturgis, DO NOT pick up a blank card. You will receive an email to pick up a pre-loaded card at the main office. We will also need to collect your Charlie card when you return in January to transfer the funds.
Please confirm that your Go card is activated for a STUDENT ACCOUNT ($1.50 per ride). If that is not the case, call the CCRT to have it changed.
***Every June, accounts revert to full fare, so you will need to call back to ask for the student fare again each summer.
The number for CCRT is 508-775-8504.

How do I reach my child during the school day?
As students will not have access to their cellphones during the school day, except during lunch (11:35-12:30), please try to communicate daily plans with your child prior to school. If you need to reach them, you can either
leave a message on their cellphone to be retrieved during lunch
if it is time sensitive, call the main office and we can deliver a message
If you need to drop something off for your student, please bring it to the office and the student can pick it up there.

We encourage families with financial need to apply for this program. If your child has received a free or reduced lunch in the past, please note that the federal government requires that you reapply each year. You can access the application forms on the Sturgis website. For students who qualify for a free or reduced lunch, Sturgis works with Little Sandwich Shop to provide fresh and delicious lunch options.
There are additional benefits for qualifying students including:
Transportation to and from school
Athletic fees
School field trips
School events, including proms and special events

Those who are in this program can rest assured that their information and participation are kept in the strictest confidence.
U.S. News and World Report's 2023 public high school rankings identify Sturgis as the #4 public high school in the state, #179 in the country, and #48 charter school nationwide!
These rankings recognize and reflect our staff, students, parents, and trustees' commitment to our mission of IB For All. This year's rankings are especially well-earned, I find, as they are based on data from the 2020-2021 school year, which was a time when we demonstrated tremendous resilience and resourcefulness as a community.
Congratulations!!!!
