There is a new resource for parents looking for more information and education on adolescent substance use. Here is a description from the website: "iCARE is a new, free program for caregivers looking for self-paced education and tips about navigating adolescent substance use. This program is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and can be completed on a computer/tablet or phone by creating a free, individual learner account on the Dr. Katz app, a healthcare knowledge platform." Even though spring is here we are still seeing a fair amount of illness in our school community. Please encourage your students to wash their hands often and keep them home if they are not well enough to be in school. See this guidance from the Department of Public Health (DPH) guidelines to control the spread of these respiratory diseases that include COVID-19: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/staying-home-to-prevent-the-spread-of-respiratory-viruses. Generally if your student tests positive for COVID-19 or the flu, they can return to school once symptoms have significantly improved and the conditions in the chart below have been met. It is recommended that they wear a mask for five days once they return to school/community activities. As always, reach out to the school nurse if you have questions and please notify the nurse if your student has a new illness or injury.

One requirement of the IB program is that students participate in a collaborative science project with students who are studying different sciences.
This year, the junior class will be participating in this project for the full school day on May 4 and the morning of May 7. Please plan doctors' appointments and other schedules accordingly, as this is a required project. If you have questions, please reach out to Kristine May, Lead Science Teacher (kmay@sturgischarterschool.org). We thank you in advance.
Please consider a donation to the William Sturgis Friends of Education Foundation to help strengthen our community and support students, faculty, and staff!
U.S. News and World Report's 2025-26 public high school rankings identify Sturgis as the #4 public high school in the state, #158 in the country, and #38 charter school nationwide!
These rankings recognize and reflect our staff, students, parents, and trustees' commitment to our mission of IB For All.
Congratulations!!!!
