Award-winning Art Psychotherapist | HCPC Registered | BAAT Registered
Studio-based in Hereford and working online across the UK.
I offer art psychotherapy for adults, alongside clinical supervision for therapists and practitioners. My approach is warm, thoughtful and psychologically informed, with particular strength in complexity, trauma, and attachment-related difficulties.
You’re welcome to book an informal phone or Zoom chat to see whether I’m the right fit. If I’m not able to help (or I’m at capacity), I may be able to signpost you to someone suitable.
How I Work
Art psychotherapy offers a way of exploring thoughts and feelings that can be hard to put into words. You do not need to be “good at art”. We use simple materials and images as a gentle, powerful way to understand what’s happening beneath the surface, build emotional stability, and support change.
My work is also informed by:
Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) – trained with Anthony Bateman at the Anna Freud Centre, London
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) – training with Dr Deborah Lee
A strong interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Clinical Supervision
I hold a Level 6 Diploma in Art Psychotherapy Clinical Supervision (CPCAB, 2020) aligned with BAAT standards. The training strengthened my ability to work across different supervisory modalities and to adapt supervision to the needs of qualified professionals, trainees, and mixed-discipline teams.
The course covered key areas including:
Organisational dynamics
Evaluation of supervision
Ethical practice and boundaries
Confidentiality and GDPR
I’ve supervised a wide range of professionals including clinical psychologists, NHS ward managers, art therapists, counsellors, and trainees.
I recently retired as Lead Art Therapist within an NHS Trust. I have broad experience across statutory and voluntary sectors, including:
Adult mental health
Learning disabilities
Ex-offenders
Pupil referral units (PRUs)
Charitable counselling services and clinical leadership
I also provided clinical supervision for a counselling charity, supervising a mixed group of counsellors and trainees, and I was part of the charity’s clinical management team., I have supervised University of South Wales art therapy trainees on NHS placements.
During the pandemic, online work became second nature; I regularly attend CPD and training delivered in this format.
