Coach Malone is currently in his 4th season as the Coyotes’ head coach. Before coaching at WFHS, Coach Malone coached at Cedar Creek, James Bowie, Hallsville and Boyd High Schools. His coaching accomplishments include 2006-2007 Marshall News Messenger and District 17-4A Coach of the Year. His teams’ accomplishments include the 2003 and 2005 Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ 3-point Champions, Bi-district and Area Champions in 2005 and 2007, 2007 4A Top 20 state ranking and 2013 Central Texas Top 10 ranking.
As a player Malone was a team captain for the 1995 5A State playoff team at Spring High School. He continued his playing career at LeTourneau University where He was the captain for the 1999-2000 season and had built a reputation around American Southwest Conference for being a tough-nosed, tenacious defender who did “all the little things” to make the team successful. In the 1999-2000 season he set the single season record and holds the career record for most charges taken.
Following his collegiate playing career, Malone served as an assistant at LeTourneau University from 2000-2001. In his first year of college coaching he helped recruit and coached the Newcomer of the Year in the ASC.
