Hi! I’m Mia, class of 2025, and a student at Staples High School. I’m in food in lit., and I’m taking this class because I think food is more important than people make it. It’s something that connects us all, that nourishes our body, that we literally CANNOT live without. My theme is my heritage. I’m Italian and South African, half and half. My dad actually immigrated from South Africa when he was young. My mom’s parents are both fully italian, and her grandparents immigrated from Naples. I may not have started as the best cook, I didn’t inherit those skills, but I hope to make meals that I love and will enjoy, and hopefully you will too! I think everyone’s food taste and enjoyment can stem from their heritage, whether it’s European, African, Asian, etc. We all have our own foods that we just can’t live without, and I want to make them!
