My life has always revolved around waiting for the summer. My family has owned a house on the beach on the Jersey Shore for many generations. Every summer, my whole family makes our way to Jersey, from Connecticut, Florida, and even California. I always looked forward to the food I ate at the beach because something about it just couldn't be replicated. This is when when choosing a food topic, I knew right away I wanted to do shore food.
The benefit of choosing a topic so close to my heart is that I have so many memories associated with all of the meals I cook. This allows me to explore and heal my heart while cooking. But what makes the food at the beach so special isn't just the location, it is also the people. I remember being younger baking and cooking certain meals with my grandma and her sister. Those memories will stay with me forever, and so will these recipes.
