Where did you grow up and go to school?
Good ole Westerly, Rhode Island. I went to Tower Street Elementary School, Westerly Junior High School, over in Babcock, and I am a proud graduate of the Westerly High School class of 1984.
Have you worked at another school before?
No, this is the only school I have ever worked in and the only school I have ever wanted to work in. I have been at WHS for 29 years!
What inspired you to become a teacher?
The great teachers I had here at Westerly High School. Mrs. Brenda Linton was my social studies teacher in 8th, 10th, and 12th grade and was the best teacher ever. I also had excellent English and History professors in college at the University of Rhode Island.Â
What is your favorite part of teaching at WHS?
The students are some of the most hardworking people that I have ever had the privilege to work with.
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of teaching?
I am a trail runner, mountain biker, and hiker. Those are my three favorite outdoor activities.
What motivates you to get up in the morning?
My love of teaching.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
My wife and my children. I am married to a fabulous woman, and we have two amazing, beautiful children.
What is something that most students at WHS do not know about you?
When I was six years old, I took a three-month trip to Europe that inspired me to become a social studies teacher.
What is on the top of your bucket list?
To finish running a race in all 169 towns in Connecticut. I am in a club called Run 169 Towns Society, and I have run a race in 105 towns in the state so far.
What are your upcoming plans for the summer?
To do a little bit of travel, run some races, go to the beach, and get ready for the next school year. I am excited to relax and have some downtime.
