Have you worked at another school before? If so, where?
Yes, I have been lucky enough to have taught in several districts around the state. I started my teaching career at East Greenwich High School and I taught in their history department for four years before taking a position at Chariho. After three years with Chariho Public Schools, I accepted a position at Westerly High School.
Where did you go to school (your education)?
I attended Rhode Island College for both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
What was your first paying job?
Throughout high school, I worked at a small business in Downtown Newport called Tribal Pride II. We sold Native American arts, crafts, and jewelry. It was an awesome experience, I got a chance to meet a lot of people from all over the country and learned a lot about Native American cultures.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
I love teaching and helping students, but my greatest accomplishment is being a mother! I have two awesome kids, they drive me crazy but make everything worth it.
Do you have any pets? If so, what are they?
Yes, I have a chocolate lab, Rosie, my daughter has a tuxedo cat named Shady, and we have a new addition to the family, Angel, a cat we rescued.
What is your favorite holiday? (If you don’t celebrate holidays---What is your favorite season?)
Each season gives you something to celebrate and my favorite holiday is Christmas! It is an important part of my faith but I also love the music, decorations, and most importantly time with my family and friends!
What motivates you to get up in the morning?
That first cup of coffee and seeing my students!! There is nothing better than watching that spark when everything clicks and they make a connection between what we are learning and the real world.
What is your favorite part of WHS so far?
Because I have worked around the state, I have a sense of appreciation for all that we have here at Westerly High School. I am fortunate enough to have incredible coworkers and I love what we are building here. We are all working to make it a positive environment for all students. We have a supportive administration team, a beautiful campus, and awesome students!
