What did I learn with the knowledge/experiences I gained from my project?
The entire process taught me that making an impact can start with a simple idea. This idea can also have a ripple effect on people's lives in a positive aspect. Civic engagement can look different for everyone but it is important to be involved and stay involved.
How did this experience change lifestyle choices I might make in the future.
I now think about how my actions and words impact others. This event caused me to come out of my shell and help others more than I used to. The ways that other people helped me, I want to do the same for my community and be a change in someone's life.
3. How would I motivate others to become involved in civic engagement for the future?
I would suggest start with finding something you are passionate about or want to learn more about. Again civic engagement can look like anything so choose something that you believe is a way you are making an impact.
4. Are there any activities or parts of this activity I WISH I had attempted or completed? Why could/should I have done different/better?
Something I could've done is some type of volunteer or motion for something to benefit school students such as the topic of starting school later which is what I did for my "Make Your Own Legislation" project.
5. If there is one piece of advice you would give to next semester’s/year’s students about how to plan or complete this project, what would it be?
I would say the most important aspect of this is not to wait until the last minute to do it. The end the semester creeps up fast so do the checkpoints and start as soon as it is assigned.
