The initial array of languages was created in 2019 to represent the diversity of the Broughton student body, and make students of all ethnicities and backgrounds feel welcome.

The sign was hung in 2021, after repairing damages from storage while classes were out due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
21 languages were represented!

Additional languages were added in 2022: Urdu, Dutch, and Pashto.

The WTBY website was created in 2023 by IB art student Dustin Vinsel.
The mural currently represents 24 languages!
