Dear Prospective Beta Club Members (grades 10 - 11) . . .
The National Beta Club Honor Society recognizes outstanding achievement, promotes character and social responsibility, encourages service involvement to school and community, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for members to develop interpersonal relationship skills.
Membership in the Wakefield High School Chapter of National Beta Club Honor Society requires many things; Members must maintain an excellent academic record, as well as be a good role model. In order to assure that members continue in good standing, we have outlined specific guidelines for members to follow.
Attendance Policy:
You are only allowed TWO absences. As we are transitioning back to afterschool meetings and schedule conflicts will be reduced, we are no longer excusing absences unless in the case of extreme circumstances. Students involved in other school activities (cheer, sports, other clubs, etc) are NOT excused from attending club meetings.
Academics:
Once your becomes a member of The National Senior Beta Club Honor Society, GPA's will be checked each semester. If a member's GPA drops below a 3.5, they will be on Probation from Beta Club for the next semester. If the member's GPA is still below 3.5 for the following semester, they will be REMOVED from Beta Club. If any member does not meet any of the required membership responsibilities and their membership is withdrawn, no membership fees will be refunded regardless of the reason for dismissal.
Dues:
New Members: December 4th
Returning members: NO DUES
The will be no refund if you do not fulfill membership expectations or requirements.
Volunteer Hours:
Students are required to earn 15 service hours per semester.
Meeting Attendance DOES count for 0.5 hours of service.
There is no distinction between sponsored and unsponsored hours.
Students ARE allowed to tutor another student under the supervision of a teacher.
Character:
Part of being a member of the Beta Club is demonstrating good character. Members must set an exemplary example for everyone. If a member receives ISS (in school suspension) or OSS (out of school suspension) for any reason, the student will be immediately dismissed from membership in the Beta Club Honor Society.
Honor Code:
Wakefield High School Honor Code:

Through a joint fulfillment of this code, students and faculty will achieve their fullest potential in academic excellence and character."
