Coralline Algae is type of algae that has a red color, no vascular system, and is very flexible. Coralline Algae is a producer so that means it uses energy from the sun the make food. Coralline Algae is a slow growing plant. It usually lives in coral reefs. Coralline Algae also deposits Calcium Carbonate.

To survive in the Marine Biome Coralline Algae must have adapted to many things such as:

  • Currents
  • Predators
  • Depth of the ocean
  • Little sunlight
  • Living in a constantly wet environment

To face these problems Coralline Algae adapts in many ways such as:

  • Absorbing water through cell walls
  • Some pigments allow Coralline Algae to grow deeper underwater
  • It's red color help it blend in
  • It's crust got thicker over time
  • Flat structure to absorb more water and sunlight
  • Flexible Structure to bend with the currents
  • No vascular system
