Your mom comes up with a simple solution.  She can power it with her magic sprite powers.  You then ask how to turn it on, and Jack yells across the room to just move the needle onto the edge.  You do so and it starts spinning really fast.  You can hardly understand a thing that's being said, then, within a few seconds, the needle reaches the center.
