My name is Saaranga Prapin
I am 11th grade
I am excited to learn new techniques for sculpture, because sculpture is one of the things I am the worst at in art.
I am good at baking and I like baking for my friends.
A fun fact about me is that I took piano lessons for almost 10 years and just recently quit.
1: Pros: I liked how my piece turned out overall, and I liked the leaf holder thing I made for my piece.
2: Cons: My piece was too thick I think and broke entirely in the kiln and I had to glue it back together.
3: I used the pinch pot technique to create the rattle, and then made a leaf holder for it. When it broke in the kild, it lost the little beads I put in it, so I added new plastic beads and glued it back together with hot glue. Then, I painted it with acrylic paint.
1: My piece changed a lot from my original sketch. My piece was originally much simpler and had circles instead of hearts.
2: A challenge that I had with this piece was properly shaping the edges of the piece.
3: I like my piece but I don't love it, if I could redo it I would change some things.
Throwing Assignment:
I enjoyed throwing clay on the wheel. When I was using the wheel, it was really hard to center the clay, and after that, the clay kept on slipping or collapsing in on itself. I was not succesful in making a pot. I learned how much arm strength potters need.
Reflection:
1: I like the design I chose for the sgraffito piece, and this time nothing broke.
2: I had difficulty shaping the piece.
3: If I could redo this project I would use another layer of glaze.
1: I like the detail of the hot glue as icing on the piece and I feel like it adds more realism.
2: Keeping the roof on the piece was really hard.
3: If I could redo this project, I would paint over the text printed onto the cardboard.
1: I think my coil pot technique has improved a lot.
2: Smoothing the piece out was hard
3: If I could redo the piece, I would chnage up the shape
1: I like the shapes and the theme I chose for this piece, and I actually used multiple layers of glaze.
2: It was hard to get some of the pieces to stick to the pot
3: If I could redo this piece, I would change the colors.
