AOE, the Academy of Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing, has been an integral part of my high school career, being an academy that has serviced me for every year of high school. In the academy I have been exposed to many fields of engineering through projects in different classes.
Disabled individuals in today's society faces problems in their lives that seem so minute to some, such as driving a car, general physical barriers, etc. In this project, I explored problems disabled people are facing today, and in my case, I worked on assisting amputees who can't use their upper-limbs. I went through the engineering design process to research possible solutions and ended up creating a sophisticated design that incorporated science and engineering to create an effective gear shifter for amputees.
In my Structural Bridge Project, I collaborated with a partner in order to create a fully functional bridge made of balsa wood. The design process involved developing calculations for the forces on each truss member and then building the bridge with wood glue.

Through VEX Robotics, collaboration, and project management, as a group we created a delivery station that would be incorporated into an assembly line for a donut.
