Jaguars

One of the most amazing creatures in the Amazon Rainforest is the jaguars. This animal lives in the wetlands of the Amazon Rainforest. According to worldwildlife.org, the scientific name of a jaguar is Panthera onca. Jaguars are usually around 120-210 pounds. Jaguars are a golden yellow color and they have black animal prints all over their body. Deer, tortoises, iguanas, armadillos, fish, birds, and monkeys are only some of the prey that jaguars can eat. Did you know that jaguars can swim and climb? They are really some amazing mammals!

According to defenders.org, there are only about 15,000 jaguars left in the world. Jaguars are threatened by poachers who want jaguar’s bones or skin. This is sad because jaguars are beautiful creatures and they never did anything to us. If there were no more jaguars in the wild then the ecosystem will fall out of balance and there would not be a diverse ecosystem. We must all do our part to protect the jaguars that are left.
