Tyler Ristimaki, Age 11
The ear saver project started when my technology teacher encouraged her students to design some 3D projects to print during remote learning. My mom had to wear her mask all the time at the hospital due to COVID-19 so after 3 attempts of making the design on Tinkercad, I made a 3D Printed ear saver that had thick enough hooks to hold the mask, 2 hooks to adjust easily and the ribbon you can tighten and loosen to fit. I gave 2 to my mom. Then, in collaboration with my awesome technology teacher, Ms. Knox-Ingle, we thought about making and donating them to other healthcare workers and other essential employees. Thanks to generous donors we were able to get more filament and ribbon to make that happen. The current number of ear savers distributed can be found on the "Distributed" tab. Thank you to all who have generously donated to help us continue this project.

I am the Charge Nurse in Labor & Delivery at UNC Rex and trying out your ear saver today. It works great and the ribbon feels so soft against my head. Thank you for this invention and donating some to our department. You have so much to be proud of !!!!!!!
