Temperate rainforest and why they are important!

The temperate forests of Russia, North America, Chile, and Europe help absorb the gasses that cause climate change, give us timber and paper products, and provide jobs for many people. They’re also a home for many species, from trees and flowers to birds and butterflies, wolves and bears. (Temperate forests: wildernesses worth protecting | WWF) “Forests store huge amounts of carbon, so keeping them alive is essential to fighting climate change. This doesn’t mean we stop using trees; it means we replant or restore forests at the same rate we harvest them.” The temperate forest is extremely important ecologically. They help to reduce erosion from the trees, stabilizing the soil. The forests aid in maintaining biodiversity, regulating the local climate, and producing oxygen. This helps to stabilize weather patterns as well as diminish the effects of greenhouse gas release into the atmosphere. The trees regulate watershed volume to reduce water, while no one serves as large water and air filter. As a result, the forest indirectly regulates stream flow and temperature. It supplies nutrient cycling and soil formation and creates healthier soil for the plants that live in it. The temperate forest must stay standing or we wouldn't have supplies to support everyday needs. Unsustainable forestry targeting the largest trees, road construction, and other development-related activities are the biggest threat to our temperate rainforests.
