About Mr. Boyer

Thank you for stopping by and visiting our classroom website. I am very excited to get this new year off to a great start.

It is hard to believe, but this year will be my 23rd year teaching. This will be my tenth year at Meadowlark Ridge Elementary after spending thirteen years at Heusner Elementary where I taught 6th, 4th, and then 5th grade. Fifth grade has been my favorite grade to teach out of them all.

I grew up in Salina where I graduated from Salina South High School. From there, I then went on to college at Kansas State University where I graduated in 1998 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Social Sciences. In 2005, I earned my Master's degree from Wichita State University in Curriculum and Instruction with a certificate in Technology Integration.

In 2009, I had the honor of being named USD#305's Elementary Teacher of the Year as well as a semifinalist for the state of Kansas Elementary Teacher of the Year. This award has allowed me to meet many, many wonderful teachers throughout the state and in our own district. I had the fortunate opportunity to be a member of the Kansas Reading Circle for eight years. I am a member of the Kansas Exemplary Educators Network (KEEN).

During the basketball season, I will be coaching 8th grade basketball at Lakewood Middle School.

I enjoy integrating technology to enhance a student's learning and giving them the chance to collaborate, create, and publish things with the help of technology. Through the integration and learning of technology in my classroom, I have had many opportunities to become a lifelong learner and was a PBWorks Certified Trainer and Educator from 2008-2011 and an Edmodo Professional Development trainer in 2012.

My free time is taken up by many community activities including being the director the World Class Sports Basketball Club.

My dream would be to one day write a book.

My lovely wife, Marcy, is also a teacher in the Salina school district, and teaches 2nd grade at Stewart Elementary.

We have one sweet little "child", a cute dachshund named Oscar.
