The lines I used in this artwork were more jagged and not straight at all. I tried to make as many edges as possible. I made the shoes look sharp and tried to make them look a little scary.
The lines in my first artwork represent scary and wild. I wanted the lines to be like that because if you see Rick Owen he looks kind of scary and looks like he might be wild. I didn't want there to be any curves because I don't find curves with no edges very scary that seems more chill. I feel like the amount of zig zag lines that are on my shoe makes it look wild because there is so much that is happening.
I put curvy lines for the whole thing. They are bold lines but not thick. I put no edges because I wanted them to look more chill and not scary. Like the first shoe was.
The lines on my second artwork represent chill and calm. It turned out not to be as chill as I wanted but it was still pretty close. The name of the shoe I used was called rick owen so it made me think of rick and morty. It made me think of what the green portal looks like and it makes me feel calm and chill so my lines kind of look like the lines in the portal.
In this assignment, I learned quite a bit about cubism. I learned where it originated from which was from Picasso and Braque. I also learned how to make a cubism drawing. I learned the basis of what it even is which is cutting up images and changing viewpoints all in the same image to make it look kind of confusing.
In my artwork, I used cubism in the way I cut up the image. I created lines in which I would separate edges and lines to make my image disconnect in areas. They would end up meeting up with each other again.
For me, there were many challenges on this assignment, whether the shading from light to dark or cutting up the image enough to make it look like cubism. To me though the hardest was the shading because I didn't know what color scheme I wanted to use in the beginning so it was hard to get started. Then also in the beginning I didn't know what I was doing so it was pretty difficult to fix it. I think I was pretty successful at cutting up the object I think I exaggerated the cubism pretty well.
In the project, the purpose was to make a textured print on 5 pieces of paper. The texture I showed in my art was actual texture because if you feel the art then you can feel the texture from where the paint was thicker in some spots. I also tried to show some simulator texture in the wings with feathers but it didn't really turn out that way.
The printmaking process is fairly quick. You have to carve at the block so that you can roll the paint over that block on the areas that are still raised on the block. After you print that color then you carve away what you just did to get the next color. It was pretty confusing at first but eventually, you get to understand and it gets really easy. This a reduction print because. This a relief print because.
In the beginning, I was really confused about what the process was. When I got the hang of it though it got really easy and I got done pretty fast I feel like. The hardest part about the project was making sure that everything lined up and had enough paint on the brayer so that it came out on the paper clean. I think I succeeded at having details on mine from the carving block.

Dynamics and Personality Family
In my family there are 4 of us at the house then my brother so we have 5. We are all similar because we can all bond over things that are competitive like sports and we are all different because none of us have the same background as each other besides me and my brother sort of. He and I both grew up in a family in a house in town and played sports growing up. My dad lived in Louisville so he was different and he is pretty chill. My mom grew up on a farm and my sister has grown up not liking sports like the rest of us do. The strong one in the family I feel like is me just because I complain the least out of everyone. The reliable one is my brother because even though he doesn't live with us he is always there when we need him. The troublemaker is my sister she just always seems to be the one in trouble. The thing that is the most unique about my family is that we travel together a lot not necessarily like vacations but in the summer I have so many basketball games that we always find ourselves together going somewhere.
How Sculpture Expresses Family Members and Relationships
The shapes in my sculpture have a mixture of round edges and also sharp and almost jagged edges. There are also some geometric shapes as well. As a whole, though the figure on top of the base of my sculpture is organic I kind of just made it by freehandling with the knife thing we used. All of my forms are like in one bigger form they are all together. No there is no negative space in my sculpture because there are no holes. There is a symmetrical balance at the base of my sculpture because it is a pyramid. The top-looking piece is a mixture of everyone else it's sharp for craziness then also has rounded smooth edges for how chill most of us are most of the time. Also, it being the main piece shows that we are all equal at home and there's really no bias towards anyone which is odd because all are kind of by ourselves most of the time.
Evaluation of Sculpture
Yeah I think my craftsmanship was the best part of my project I feel like everything looks pretty nice and clean and how I wanted it to look. The best part of my project is the figure on the top because it has a lot going on. It has sharp parts rounder parts and I think it looks cool. The hardest part I struggled with the most was the cutting. It was hard to get things to be the same size and it was also hard to cut the things we were cutting in general. It was hard to make it straight and curved on our paper. The thing I thought was the easiest was the paper mache and painting it just was annoying kind of because you had to make the paste but it was very easy. During my project I ended up not making a hole how I was going to because I didn't start with a hole in the piece of paper thing we cut into then I got too far to add it. I probably could have improved on all the spots I had the paper mache on. I could've punched down some spots more and I could've had sharper edges.
Compare and Contrast Family Theme with another Art Form
My artwork reminds me of Yeats's brand new album 2093. It reminds me of that because there are a bunch of different songs in that album that are very distinct and different from each other in their ways but still sort of the same. That reminds me of my family because we are all pretty unique from each other just in general but we can all connect to the same things to come together and bond. I feel like my artwork shows that because it has traits of all of us in the top piece like sharp edges for how quickly one of us could get mad or something or the top rounded edge that represents how chill most of us can be all of the time.
The idea of my project was to try and make a sculpture that looked like me. This portrait expresses me because of the wings. You would probably get it if you really know me because during basketball season I got called the flying Falcon on tv and it kinda stuck throughout the rest of the season. The one thing I changed from my original to the actual sculpture was the wings because instead of putting falcon wings I just put some angelic wings on it instead.
In the sculpture first, I made a small base with shoulders and a neck with hard paper stuff and cardboard. Then after that, I wrapped that up with foil. Then after the foil, I added the clay smoothed it out, and made facial features after I got done with that stuff then that’s when the best part happened which was the painting.
I have learned that if you want something to be good then it takes time and the little details do matter. In this project, the easiest thing probably was the foil and getting it to stick I thought everything else was honestly pretty hard like getting the clay consistency right was pretty difficult. It will help with time management I think because doing the little things was pretty time-consuming like adding the hair on my sculpture felt like it took forever.
The idea for my project was something in nature but not something you see all the time or ever. So I decided to do a lilypad floating on the water. Another reason I did a lily pad is that my mold was already in a circle shape.
The process started by getting the mold out of the bowl then after that I started cutting down the circle and left some in the middle up still so I could eventually carve that into a flower. After I was done carving the shapes I started to detail them simpler shapes so you could tell what I was making. Then eventually the thing that brought the sculpture together was the painting.
The easiest part of this project for me was definitely the painting and making the lily pad. The hardest part though, was the flower because it wasn't easy to carve a flower shape because I had no clue how to do it.
