I learned that thicker and bolder lines represent more towards anger or rage.
This artwork's mood was angry and jittery. The lines were jagged and thick, showing that the lines were rushed, and drawn with a lot of force. The lines were shaky, showing the energy in the lines. There were extra lines around the drawing, showing how the lines were hyper. The lines were like lightning, and an energy surge.
I learned that thinner and smoother lines represent more towards being calm or content.
This artwork’s mood was calm and swift. The lines were smooth and curved, kinda like water or hair. The lines were thin and curved, to show the the lines were drawn with care. The lines were smooth, not jagged, to show that they were relaxed.
Cubism Drawing of a Butterfly
Throughout working with the cubist Style on my cubist artwork I’ve learned a few things. I’ve learned how to blend colors better, simplify different details, and draw cubism. I’ve also learned different ways artists draw cubism, like how they use geometric shapes while drawing in the cubism style.
In my cubist artwork I drew a cubic styled butterfly on a branch. The original image of the butterfly was a realistic photo, I simplified the details by making all the objects into geometric shapes. The realistic photo was originally made up of many different vibrant colors, I changed the color scheme down to cool colors to match the sky and give the artwork a different feel.
The main challenge I’ve faced with drawing this artwork was time. I had a lack of time while drawing this artwork, due to me being sick. I thought I did well blending colors from a light to dark value. I also thought that I did a good job simplifying the realistic photo down to the cubist style.
Texture Print of a Cat
The project was a texture print artwork, where we would get an image online, carve the image into a block, paint, and paste the block on pieces of paper. The purpose was to learn new ways of texture and printing. I shown a hair-like texture, since my artwork was of a cat. I carved thin lines in areas of the block to make it look like hair. I chose this texture and artwork because I wanted to do an artwork of an animal.
The printmaking process started after you carved away a design in the block, you would paint over the block and paste the block on a piece of paper. You would keep doing this for the other colors. This is a reduction print because we used multiple colors on one block. This is also a relief print because we cut away from the block. Registration is copywriting or claiming something.
I learned new ways of painting and texture. I thought that the printmaking process was a bit challenging and time consuming. I thought the end artwork looked well.
Texture Print of a Cat
There are seven members of my family in my house. Everybody is basically contrasted from one another. I chose three people’s personalities for my project. Myself, my grandmother, and my little sister. My little sister is hyper, energetic, annoying, lazy, and bratty. My grandmother is caring, loving, exhausted, serious, and frustrated. I am dull, exhausted, caring, cold, serious, and boring.
The sharp edges and supposed to be boring and not very interesting except for in some certain parts. There are open holes in the figure to represent insecurities and care. The figure is very geometric and straight. The color is supposed to be dull and boring. The curved parts of the sculpture is supposed to represent more positive personality traits.
I think my project turned out pretty well, it represents three people in my family including me. I thought my craftsmanship was good. I could’ve made the sculpture more organic or representational. I thought the idea of this project was cool and unique.
My artwork compared to a musical form of art about family has many differences. One, my artwork is a solid, and touchable item. The music is something you can only hear. The music can express feelings better than a sculpture. The music can also represent a mood better than a sculpture can.
For my portrait bust project, I wanted to show an event that happened in my life that changed my point of view. My portrait represents the life event pretty well in my opinion, being both gory and disturbing. I originally was going to have long hair on my bust before I got a haircut, afterwards, I figured I’d instead have short hair as I do now. Having shorter hair was also easier.
In the beginning, I wanted to show a traumatic event in my life. I was hit near the eye with a golf club when I was a kid, and I wanted to show that somehow. I sketched out an idea or two of what my portrait could look like and decided on one that was blood and had an eye missing. After my planning was done, I made a base out of poster board and wrapped foil around the base until it was shaped like a head. I added sculpt-a-mold to the portrait and shaped it to my desires, then painted over it after it all dried.
Throughout this project, I have learned better planning skills and how to sculpt properly. The easiest part of this project for me was making the base from poster board, while the hardest part was probably the sculpting. Patience and dedication to this project will help me with my future and continued work.
My idea was a sandstone rock formation. I got these ideas from a variety of concept sketches varying from different formations of rocks.
I started with a cup of a clay-like material and removed the cup. I sketched out my idea onto the clay-like material and chipped away at it. I removed about ⅓ of the entire cup of the clay-like material off of the left and right sides. I chipped my tool into the bottom middle and top middle to create holes to sculpt an open space through my sculpture. I then chipped away at the corners and sides of the remaining clay-like material. After, I added ridges and cuts into my sculpture to make it look more like rocks.
I have learned how to sculpt better, and I have learned how to carve efficiently. The easiest part was probably the painting, which was a bit difficult to reach in some parts.
