Sgraffito

Artist Statement:

I decided I wanted to do flowers and grass, with kind of a visual of wind in the background. I usually just draw flowers whenever I'm bored, and I just find them really pretty and fascinating how in our world, there is something that our Earth made thats really pretty. I couldn't make it very detailed, so I tried adding some tall grass and wind to be able to not just show the flower, but also show its surroundings and where it grows.

To create this, I used a piece of clay, and flattened it enough, and then cut it into a small circle/oval shape, and then covered it with black glaze and used scratch tools to carve in the design.
