In this phase, the team will be tasked with developing a design for the payload. The payload will be chosen for the full deration of the semester. Each team will be forced to collaborate in search for design features and strategies to overcome the full development of the payload.
During this phase the grasping mechanism will be created. This mechanism will be made specifically for the payload developed in Phase I. Concepts that will be expanded upon within the scope of this area of the project will be degree of freedom analysis, mechanism classification, and graphical linkage synthesis.
At this phase the team must fabricate the lifting mechanism with respect to to grasping mechanism and payload, designed and created in Phases I and II. Calculations will be entailed within this phase to be made certain that the lifting mechanism has enough mechanical dominance to operate the servo. Concepts to be experienced are: degree of freedom analysis, graphical linkage synthesis, instant centers, and mechanical advantage.
During the fourth and final phase of this project, a rotation mechanism to support and move all mechanisms and payload will be designed and created. The lifting mechanism, grasping mechanism, and payload all will be completely designed by this point of the project. Concepts that will be reinforced from class are gear train calculations.
