Objective
During this phase, we designed a payload that could be easily moved by all mechanical claws. Our geometries were aimed to expand beyond a cube shape.
Constraints
Our designs were limited to a 1.5" x 1.5" x 1.5" cubic inch volume limit. All designs were made in SolidWorks and 3D printed.
Block 1
Pros: Over lip allows claw to grab onto easily. Curved middle creates unique shape.
Cons: Curve may make it difficult to grasp
Block 2
Pros: Unique shape along with over lip for ease of claw grip. Hollow inside also made payload lighter.
Cons: The hexagon shape may cause improper claw grip
Block 3
Pros: Rounded edges provide less stress while printing. Less weight with the holes in the cube.
Cons: Basic design.
Block 4
Pros: Looks like a practical object like a propane tank or a cool giant Lego head.
Cons: Its conical shape makes it more difficult to for a claw to grip it.
