About the Program

The Ossining Science Research Program is a three-year course that offers students the opportunity to conduct novel, independent research at the graduate level. Science Research began in 1998 with only three enrolled students. Today, the program has expanded to include over 100 students, each with unique projects in a wide variety of scientific and humanities disciplines. During their enrollment in the program, students can earn up to 12 college credits through the University of Albany. The program is directed by teachers, Mr. Angelo Piccirillo and Ms. Valerie Holmes.

If you are currently a Freshman at OHS and are interested in joining the Ossining High School Science Research Program, please be on the lookout for information sent out via O-Blasts and/or ask your science teachers for more information. Traditionally, Mr. Piccirillo or Ms. Holmes will visit each freshmen science class (usually in February) giving a short presentation on the program and providing the application to those who are interested. From there, interviews are conducted, and acceptances are mailed out by the end of May.
