Music Sources
It is very important to use music from sources that give you permission to include them in projects. If you decide to use a song clip from a CD or mp3 you own, you can only use up to 10% of it or less than 30 seconds. Some sources indicate it is only 10-15 seconds. Over that amount is considered a copyright violation, unless you request permission from the song artist or publisher.
When you use these sites, check licensing and use rules. You have to be the most careful when you use music in a website or blog, or for commercial purposes. Each site and artist has his/her own rules. Most are happy for students to use work in school projects.
In addition, you should always cite the music source information, just as you would cite information from a research source.
Always give credit where credit is due for any creative or scholarly work from which you take information, pictures, or music.
