Band students are all encouraged to participate in the KSHSAA Regional and State Solo and Ensemble Festivals held in the spring.

To participate, students must complete the Solo & Ensemble Registration form by Friday March 6th and turn registration payments to the lockbox by Wednesday March 11th (amounts and payment information are listed in the Solo & Ensemble Registration Form).

Students must have TWO originals of their music - ONE to perform from and ONE for the judge to use.  Music can be ordered online through various reputable publishers. Check with Mr. Maddux as the school may have an original to use with the judge. The two original requirement is to comply with copyright laws related to music performance.  Students ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE A PHOTOCOPY!  Any student found using a photocopy as their primary selection will be ineligible to perform at State, and will receive COMMENTS ONLY from the judge.

Woodwind / Brass students performing a solo will also need to have an accompanist to perform the piano part.  A list of accompanists can be found at the link on the right.  Students/families are responsible for all financial agreements with accompanists, as well as scheduling rehearsals to prepare for Regional/State Solo & Ensemble Festivals.  Please begin making contact with accompanists ASAP as their schedules will fill up fast!
