Battle of the Books

“Battle of the Books” is a reading program designed to encourage students to read and to recognize those students who like to read.  The program is open to 4th & 5th graders and teams are made up of 2-4 students from the same class.  The participants read from a pre-selected list of 10 books.  2-4 team members come to the library to take written quizzes together, earning points for correct answers.  The two teams that score the most points on the written quizzes will then participate in a LIVE BATTLE in April.  The team scoring the most points during the LIVE BATTLE will be named the Battle of the Books Winning team. Students/teams are responsible for motivating each other, reading, and quizzing.  Although one team eventually wins, I believe everyone that participates in the program is a winner!
