Become a Detective

On the Case is looking for local residents to take part in a true-crime experience. We need you to go to outdoor locations to gather case files and information to solve the crime. Do you have what it takes?

About

My name is Maya and I'm a junior at Oregon High School. For my Social Entrepreneurship class, I created On the Case. I was inspired to create this business because I would love the opportunity to solve a real true-crime case and thought others would as well. There is a lot of interest in true crime, and I wanted to give local people the chance to be Oregon's own detectives. My goal with On the Case is to get people to beautiful outdoor locations while providing a fun experience!

FAQs

How does On the Case work?

To participate you will sign up through our sign up tab, be sent an invoice through PayPal (you can either pay through PayPal or drop off cash/check to OHS), once you pay the first location will be sent to your email with a hint as to where the QR code is located, once you scan the QR code it will ask for you to request access to a document, after gaining access you will be able to review the case file and the next location will be at the bottom of that file.

Where does On the Case take place?

To participate in On the Case, you don't have to be at a specific location at a specific time. It can be done on your own time and whenever you please! The only exception is if you request access to a document between the hours of 4-11 PM any day, I can't grant immediate access due to my second job. Please email onthecaseinformation@gmail.com if you live outside of Oregon/Mt. Morris and would like to work around this!

Do I have to pay to join?

Yes. Single players are $10. Groups are $5 per participant. A group is considered to be two or more people. Each participant will receive a prize.

Ex: A group of 3 people will cost $15. One participant will cost $10

Is this COVID-19 safe?

On the Case is dedicated to ensuring our customer and employee's safety. To make sure we are 100% COVID-19 safe, almost everything can be completed on a phone or computer. The only part of On the Case where we cannot control exposure to COVID-19 is at the outdoor locations while scanning the QR codes. We recommend bringing a face covering that you can wear in case anyone else is also scanning the same QR code at the same time, and make sure to practice social distancing!

Is there a time limit?

On the Case is not providing a time limit for you to finish the case. We do not want you to feel as if our experience has to add stress to your life, we want you to have fun and solve the case whenever you have time.

What if I don't want to or can't participate anymore?

We understand that sometimes life throws unexpected events at our customers, so we do have a refund policy if you no longer wish, or can't, participate in solving the case. If you would like to refund your purchase please email onthecaseinformation@gmail.com and we will happily work with you! Refunds must be requested before receiving your entry prize.
