Solving a world problem

Our Problem:

The world problem my group decided to do was car crashes. Our original problem was car crashes, then fatalities in car crashes. The problem we ended up trying to solve was making crashes more likely to survive. Turns out in car crashes one of the most prevalent causes of deaths is not wearing seatbelts.

Our Project Process:

After we chose car crashes was our world problem, My group all split up and we all did research on one thing that relates to car crashes. The causes that we researched were what ages were most common in crashes, seatbelts, what type of crashes, the alcohol limit, and the pedestrian safety. After we did a bunch of research on our own cause, we came back together an chose one thing that we could pursue. We chose to work on seat belts. So we decided that we would make a prototype car seat that had a pressure plate in it so that when someone sat in it that car wouldn't turn on without buckling your seat belt. Then we actually made it and did all of the wiring and it turned out fantastic of course.

What Went Well:

This was a pretty efficient group we got out work done quick and efficient and we knew what we gonna do before we actually went and did it. Once it was time to build our prototype car seat the group split up so that we could on the things we were good at, so that we could get our project done faster. Me and Te'ah worked on building the actual chair and Hunter and Carter worked on the pressure plate and all the wiring. Cody was working on the slide show the whole time after we didn't let him build because he got a screw bit stuck in my hair with a drill. But besides that the project went smoothly and we did a good job.

Reflection:

I would say that during this project, one of my strengths was the ability to build things. This project we dealt with a lot of different thing that we had to research so that we could really start our project. I think that I did a good job of seeing the issue from many perspective and doing. I also think creative thinking was a strength of our group as a whole. We were trying to solve an issue that had so many different cause to it and so many different sides that it was hard to find one thing that was actually solvable. We also needed to justify why our solution would be the best because there were a lot of other solutions that had already been made.

I think that a weaknesses that we had as a group was that we got off task a lot. This was a group with my good friends so at some times and found it hard to focus. I didn't listen as well as I as I should havea t some points and I think that our work could have been even better. I also struggled with my time management throughout this project. I often found myself rushing to get work done and that would end up making my work seem a bit sloppy. I think that next project I can improve by taking more time to listen and setting goals to better manage my time.
