Fire away!

For this project, we were assigned to build a working trebuchet that launches a projectile. During this project, my group of myself, Riley, and Owen, had created a somewhat tall trebuchet that did not launch very far. We then used 8 different modifications that are all shown in the proof of efficacy document that is linked below.

We then recorded how far out projectile went after the modifications and calculated the average for each test. Since our trebuchet was taller, we had to use more rubber bands to launch further or the arm would release slowly and not give us the results we were looking for.

I think during this project my group and I could have been a little more focused at the beginning of the project but we still were on task to get the data we needed. I was on task for this project and helped construct as well as take data with my group members. I also was with my group a lot of the time which helped our productivity. However, I need to work on not goofing off so much when we don’t know what to do.

Spring Potential Energy- Potential energy stored as a result of deformation of an elastic object.
Gravitational Potential Energy- Energy possessed or acquired by an object due to a change in its position when it is present in a gravitational field.
Kinetic Energy- Energy due to Motion
Total Energy- The sum of kinetic and gravitational potential energy.
Rotational Inertia- Property of any object which can be rotated.
