Application Process

Welcome!  We're so excited you're interested in Link Crew.  On this page you'll find answers to frequently asked questions about Link Crew and the role of Link Leaders.  If you're interested, you can apply by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.  You will need your @students.nusd.org login and password to apply.  We look forward to seeing all the great things you'll do at Novato High School!

What is Link Crew?  Link Crew is a nationwide peer-mentoring program designed to train Link Leaders to be mentors and role models at school and in the community.  The primary focus is to improve school culture and climate by mentoring a group of incoming Freshmen and helping them start high school feeling welcomed and supported.

What is a Link Leader?  A Link Leader is a high school Junior or Senior who has applied and been accepted into Link Crew and has attended the required training and orientation.  A Link Leader is paired with one other Link Leader and together they mentor a group of 10 Freshmen throughout the year.  

What training will I need?  Link Leaders are required to attend three days of training:  

May Day Training on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 4:00 pm

Freshman Orientation Training on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 9:00 am

Freshman Orientation Training Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 9:00 am

    and to host Freshman Orientation on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 8:30 am (leaders arrive by 7:30 am)

I'm busy one of those days, can I still participate?  Unfortunately, attendance at all three trainings and orientation for the entire time period is a required component.  It is considered a demonstration of your level of commitment to the program.   There are no exceptions to this rule.

I wasn't recommended by a teacher!  Can I still participate?  Totally! Teacher recommendations are only one aspect of the recruitment process.  We rely on referrals from current Link leaders and self-motivated individuals who apply themselves.

Can I earn community service hours?  Absolutely!  All time spent outside of school at Link Crew trainings or events earns you community service hours.
