Macro molecule Testing Lab

Our task:

We had to test foods to check if they had Carbs,Proteins,Lipids, and Nucleic Acids. The monomers of carbs is simple sugars, For proteins it was amino acids, for Lipids it's fatty acids, and for Nucleic Acids it's nucleotide. What we first had to do was crush our food for example we used Dry Mango. To check if we had any macromolecules we used benedicts for Glucose, to check for starch we used Iodine,For protein we used biurett and for fat we used a paper towel. We had to test two foods and we chose to do Dry freezed mango and a brow pear. Food 1 was the mango and food 2 was the pear.


Our Results:

We used Dry Mango and something i predicted that the mango was gonna have simple sugars and it did. We got positive effects on Glucose and the color of positive effect was red, we knew when it was positive or negative because if the color stays the same then that means there was no glucose or any of the macromolecules we tested. We had positive starch and fat but we didn't get any protein,so the dried mango didn't have any protein.

Reflection:

Some dilemma's we had was the lack of time to do both foods to test them. Our directions were to do 2 foods but we didn't have much time to do so and that affected our research since we only tested if the pear had glucose but didn't have time to do the rest. We finished every test for the dried mango. What i noticed about my self is that i can work good with others and i work better as a team then an individual.
