Physics of Sports Video

Evidence Of work

Physics of Sports Final Video (Nov 1, 2022 at 12:45 AM).MOV

Our physics of sports video was quite the journey. For the first couple of days we worked on the equations to actually find the physics behind a penalty kick. Afterwards we created a storyboard of all the different shots we wanted in the video and what we'll talk about during those clips. Whilst Rex and me were working on that Sammy another group member worked on our scripted so we knew exactly what to say at exactly what time.

Once the planning was done we worked on actually shooting the video. Our first day of shooting was bust however, since both Sammy and me were absent the previous day we weren't informed that we'll be shooting the next day. So naturally we came unprepared without cleats or keeper gloves for that matter. However, we tried to make the most of the situation by shooting the shots regardless but in the end none of were used in the final video anyways. What we did learn from this though is exactly how to film the clips we wanted so the next day we were able to film exactly what we wanted and even had time to make a some small adjustments.

The next step in our process was the voice-over portion. This one was a little tricky since we only ended up recording it throughout the span of half a class period since the first drafts were due the next day. We still ended up getting some good audio clips but had to redo the ones that contained equations because someone recommended us to add conversion rates and explain a little more in depth of how we even found these numbers.

Rex who was original named our video editor was swapped out by me after the first draft since for some of the visual portions of the video we needed arrows to point at certain things and he didn't know how to do it. It was a little bit of a challenge to edit over the original stitched together video since I had to split apart the clips again and do the same with the audio as well. Remarkably, about a day before the final video was due I finished rearranging clips, Adding background music, stitching together  blank portions in the audio, adding some more text/arrows, and final for fun added a little edit of Neymar and submitted it.

Reflection

I believe during this project I had a lot of growth as a team member. I am proud of the way that in many occasions I was the leader and was the real motivator for productivity. In my opinion I also did a good job of including my group members in the video equally. I made sure to not only include my voice lines and myself in the video but also let my group members speak and share for themselves. Since we were behind because of missing group members we needed to complete 2 days worth of work in a singular day which means we need to be extremely productive. I'm proud that I was able to really help myself and my groupmates stay reigned into the project and not following any very tempting distractions provided on the field.

During this project I was also able to reflect and see what areas I need improve on as well. I think that as a group member I almost do to much work. What I mean by this is in numerous occasions instead of letting my group members do something their way and at their own pace I end up acting pretty narrow minded and convince them that my way is the best and most efficient. I also believe that organization was another area for improvement. Even though we were given time to create a storyboard and a time frame for the filming we ended having to rush a couple of the clip because of poor time management/organization. I always end up working to slowly at the start and only realize near the end that I need to pick up the pace if I'm trying to finish this assignment/project. The problem can be solved pretty simply though by just organizing my tasks for that time frame to complete and assign a certain amount of time for each of those tasks in a reasonable amount.
