Outdoor STEM Space

Our task:

Our task was to create a piece of furniture that we would present to the public that we felt would be the best bench to be on our campus. We had a couple weeks to design and plan our bench to be full ready for the public to vote on our bench.  This bench has to have  a location outside that people would actually want to use and will sustain any weather and last. Winners project was actually built.

Our group decided to create a two sided bench that had an overhead that provided shade and blocked the rain. The overhed is big enough to block sun rays and rain from any angle. We know that we ushally dont sit in the sun or the rain so this  bench would be perfect to put somehwere that is unprotected. The bench is about 8 feet long and double sided so its pretty big. We decided tp use regualr redwood for the bench because its local and sence we have and overhead it wont be as exposed making a lesser chance of damage to the bench. To show our plan we created a blueprint that measured all of the lengthes and how it would look from every angle to scale. The blueprint shows that supports, how it would be put togetehr, and how gig everything would be. We wanted to keep it affordable so we stayed as local as possible and found reasonable materials. Sence we had extra shade we did not have to worry about pressure treated wood. Instead we choose redwwod which is striong and local. The roof would be made of thin metal that defelectes the rain. This would be in a triangle shape. We also created a 3d model to really show the general look of our bench. The kids, parents, and nusd funds looked at the benches and voted on the benches. We did not win but we got a lot of votes from our class.

Reflection-

A couple things I did good were my focusing skills. I did really well on really focising hard on creating a good blueprint tat would be to scale and easy to understand. I feel That I did better then normal on something like this. I worked very hard on maiing it look good. I also did a good job of keeping it orgfinized. Im not always orginized but this project I kept everything together well.

2 things I could have worked on was my communication skills. I was confused at times and did not do a good job of communicating to make sure I was on the same page as my classmates. I also feel I could have helped nmore on the digital part. I didnt do as much online and I feel I could have helped my classmates online more.
