Solve a World Problem

Problem

Hot Pillows effect mostly everyone which leads to the loss of sleep. How do we fix this? My group came up with adding 1-2 inches of memory foam to the bottom of your pillow to absorb heat from your head.

Our Project

First our class brainstormed different problems that affect the general population and my group picked the problem of hot pillows. After learning to annotate we went through various articles that pertained to our problem finding the best 3 articles of our choosing. We then brainstormed solutions that may solve the problem using the principles of engineering design cycle.

Now it was time to run an experiment to test our solutions see if they worked. After running through some experiments we decided on our final solution a pillow that had about 1-2 inches of memory foam below it. This seemed to work best because the pillow was around 6-7 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than a standard stuffed pillow and still stayed comfortable. We finished off by creating a slide presentation that displayed our data to let the class know what the solution that we came up with was.

Reflection

For this project 2 things I did well was collaborate with the other members in our group and use all the ideas we had to solve the hot pillow problem. 2 things I want to keep working on is critical thinking rather than giving up and asking the teacher. The other thing I would like to work on is getting less distracted.
