Anthony Borrelli, the president of the newest Needham chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, is this edition’s Club President of the Month. Anthony is a dedicated senior with a passion for listening to and creating music. It was a pleasure to interview him!
When asked about his involvement in the club, Borrelli responded, “I decided to found a chapter of Tri-M Music Honor Society here at Needham High School in May of 2024, and we just finalized this year's members and officers after reviewing many applications and holding an election.” As president of the club, he described it as “an official organization under the National Association for Music Education, recognizing and creating future leaders in the music industry.” He also reflected on its singularity at Needham High, mentioning that it “is like no other club here at Needham High School, as it is the only club that recognizes excellence and music, while simultaneously promoting music-based community service. While other honor societies exist, and performance groups are prominent here at NHS, Tri-M is unique in the sense that it combines both performance and honor society achievement with community outreach and engagement through music.” The club has focused on opening up the world of music to performers of all levels. Additionally, the overall society hosts many different service projects, such as performing in various communities and holding instrument petting zoos for younger musicians. He hopes to see the club flourish and grow over the next few years and wants to raise money for music improvements here at school. When asked, “If you could have three famous people in the club, dead or alive, fictional or real, who would they be and why?” he replied that he would enjoy having the “King of Rock,” Elvis Presley, Johann Sebastian Bach, and finally, Jack Black’s character from School of Rock. He believes they would be “a crazy combination of people and musicians, and would definitely be a very interesting group to work alongside.” Anthony is incredibly committed to introducing aspiring musicians to the world he knows and loves, the music world.
