Rain Art Scavenger Hunt Photo Journal
Published May 3rd
What is the Rain Art Scavenger Hunt one may ask? It is a temporary public art installation designed to make you think about where and what in your community makes you feel refreshed and renewed. When it rains, a gloomy day can turn into an opportunity for exploration and positivity for children with their guardians who can travel throughout a designated 1 mile route in Needham (with a map that is attatched to the left) to find invisible designs at each location. Though it would be best if followed when it is raining, the scavenger hunt of hidden designs can also be found when it is not raining if water is poured or sprayed on top of the design due to the use of a brand of hydrophobic paint known as Rainworks paint. This engaging route will not only provide enjoyment to citizens and raise interest in public art, but it will also follow the theme of spring renewal and connections to May Mental Health Awarness Month. Each location relates to how one can refresh and renew themselves mentally and physically; the 7 locations feature a stenciled design relating to ways someone can refresh themselves like being creative (making art, listening to music), being in nature (going for a walk, looking at flowers and greenery), being in a quiet space (reading, resting), and more.
