Fashionista of the Month: Ms. Parsley
By Amelie Zosa

This month’s fashionista is none other than NHS English teacher Ms. Parsley! Ms. Parsley always wears the best outfits to school, and I was honored to interview her!
How has your style changed since you were younger?
One word: JEANS. I’m a classic millennial, skinny jean owner. Now I wear a variety of jeans that make me feel comfortable rather than jeans that make a top or pair of shoes look good.
I love that. I only wear baggy jeans myself. What are your opinions on Gen Z fashion? What do you think of the outfits your students wear to school? Are there any current/Gen Z trends you participate in or want to try out?
I think Gen Z nailed the jean trend. I’m not so sure about bucket hats and crop/bra tops :/

Polka dots: yes or no? Why?
No polka dots -- I’m not much of a pattern person!
Who is your favorite fashionista/fashion inspo?
My mom -- she used to work for Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s. She is way cooler than me when it comes to setting her own style and knowing the trends before they become popular.
That’s so cool! What are your favorite things to wear to stay warm in cold weather (and especially cold classrooms)?
A wrap around scarf is my go-to item. I can dress it up or down depending on what I’m wearing. It’s the perfect added layer!
What is your favorite clothing category? (e.g., Do you love pants, shoes, tops, dresses?)
Tops, specifically sweaters. They never go out of style and I can wear some form of a sweater for every season.
What were your favorite activities/things to do when you were in high school? What were your favorite TV shows and books?
I loved the tv show One Tree Hill. I loved reading any kind of realistic fiction or family drama novel. Lastly, I really liked running and playing field hockey and running track.

What are your favorite TV shows and books now?
I read more memoirs/non-fiction texts and murder mysteries now. These days I’m more into podcasts than TV shows.
What is your go-to Starbucks/café order?
Iced coffee with skim and sugar.
If you were to write a book, what would it be about?
Twin sisters separated at birth — part Parent Trap feel-good book, part social drama like The Vanishing Half.
