From Chalkboards to Chatbots: An Educational Change Up
Published September 8th
In just a few years, classrooms have changed from rows of desks and chalkboards to spaces solely powered by artificial intelligence and digital learning. While the use of digital technology has spiked in the past decade throughout classrooms, in 2025 alone new digital platforms completely change the way students learn and how teachers teach.
In the past technology was thought of as distracting in school settings, however recently it has become more essential for learning and receiving effective education. AI tutors are a digital learning tool that have made access to help in school more accessible for students with busy schedules. If a student is struggling with algebra, for example, the tutor can break concepts into smaller steps and provide additional practice. At the same time, if a student is ready for more advanced material, the AI can challenge them with harder problems. AI tutoring takes a more personalized approach and makes it easier to keep all students supported regardless of their skill level.
Even teachers have begun to benefit from this new type of technology since AI tutors can “handle repetitive instruction,” help teach their lessons more in depth, and free up more class and extra help time. When hearing the term “artificial intelligence” in school people generally assume students are using it as a way to get out of working, however with new advancements of AI tutors, students are able to use AI to their advantage and help them learn. As long as students are using AI as a only learning tool, teachers and schools have generally accepted this form of AI for students.
