2025 Halloween Costume Predictions
By Maggie Sharrard
It’s that time of year again. The time of year for crunchy leaves, cool, breezy mornings, and some questionable pumpkin spiced flavored food. It's almost Halloween! There are plenty of ways you can do your costume. You can do cute or scary. You can do “I forgot it was Halloween until yesterday, so I guess this is my costume now!”(My personal favorite). No matter what the costume seems to be or where it comes from, one of the most exciting things about this holiday is getting to see everyone's creativity. Here are some of my predictions for the most popular costumes this year:
Elphaba and Glinda: An absolutely iconic duo costume from one of the most popular movies this year. It works for opposites-attract besties, and you can go as cute or all-out as you want (think full body green!)
F1 Drivers: Released this August, the F1 movie quickly became the highest-grossing original film of the year, and it lends itself to a variety of racecar driver costumes. Cute, minimal costumes with just a hat and a flag, a full body racecar driver suit, or the car itself!
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce: With their engagement in August, this celebrity couple is sure to pop up at the top of the costume list once again this year. Although I doubt many high school students will dress up as “your English and your gym teacher,” this costume could be pretty popular with adults in their 20s and 30s.
Labubu: Honestly, I did not even want to put this one on here. As a hater of Labubus from the first time I saw one (I think they look like ugly demons), I would not like to see a single Labubu this Halloween. With that being said, some people might think they’re really funny and dress up as one.
K-Pop Demon Hunters: Although I doubt this costume will be very popular with high school students, I bet that a large percentage of kids from ages 4-9 will dress up as Rumi or Zoey from K-Pop Demon Hunters this year.
Wednesday and Enid: After season 2 of Wednesday was released this August and September, this duo costume might be coming back! Another opposites-attract costume: one person gets to dress up in black and the other in rainbows.
So now that I have officially exhausted all of my pop-culture knowledge of the year, I have decided to end my predictions with a list of popular costumes that are sure to resurface. First, Disney Princess (versatile, cute, and perfect for a large friend group). Pirates (A classic costume for a group of mateys -- yo ho ho!). An Angel and a Devil (another opposites-attract duo costume! I feel like I see this one every year). A mermaid and a sailor (for the seafaring couple, or friend duo). And finally, the Chef and the Rat from Ratatouille (I just really like this costume. I think it’s funny and super cute.)
No matter what you dress up as for Halloween, it’s all about having fun and choosing a costume that you want to wear. So, try one of these current costumes, or dress up as something uniquely your own! Just have fun! (And no Labubus, please!)
