How it's going:
Meetings have been had, and support has been given!
If you want a basic rundown, just know that you need to tell your parents. They have to support this too.
We. Need. More. Voices.
When I started this, I didn't expect as much support as I got, yet here we are.
Bring Back the Black's half-petition half-survey had gotten signatures in the triple digits on the very first day that posters were put up, and the number of supporters has exceeded the entire senior student body. Thank you very much for joining me in this, and I hope it succeeds by the time the semester ends. The movement has resulted in meetings with Mr. Tsai and Ms. Ekdahl, and the results are... complicated. That doesn't mean it's over, though!
Long story short, there are a few things we need for this movement to succeed.
1: Parent voices
Parents are very important in any school, they're the ones who decide if we can stay as students. If the school knows a majority of parents are on board with the idea, then the school is much more likely to be on board with the idea! Please, tell your parents, it's not likely that they'll hear about the movement without you folks letting them know yourself.
2: A compromise
Khaki are currently the easiest way to tell middle schoolers and high schoolers apart. Being a charter school with the two facilities as close together as they are, there have been incidents involving the two sides. If black were to make it into the dress code, it's very likely for something to be done to differentiate us high schoolers from the middle schoolers.
3: More support!
Seriously, more support! If you believe in the movement, then support it. No matter who, the more voices we have supporting us, the more likely we are to succeed and bring black into the dress code once again, for the comfort of a large amount of the student body.
Because I am a senior, I graduate at the end of the semester and will most likely not be here to see the campaign's results. That's fine, though! I'd like to set a precedent and make sure students know that together, we can be heard.
If it fails, I hope someone continues with this campaign, I do not want this movement to die.
I would like to sincerely thank you for reading this far. Please, do show as much support as you can. It brings us closer to a more comfortable environment for a lot more people.
