Class Rules

  1. Be on-time, on-task, and prepared to learn EVERYDAY.

  2. Keep all personal electronics put away.

  3. Be responsible for your own learning.

  4. Respect: the teacher, the classroom, other students.

**We will follow all rules regarding safety and Covid.

Classroom Grading

  1. Classwork: An assignment will be given with each lesson. Each will be around 20 problems or less, and students will be given class time to work on each assignment. Assignments will be primarily for practice only, but may be collected and graded as I see necessary.

  2. Quizzes: Short quizzes to assess students understanding of the material will be given throughout the chapter. Most quizzes are 10 points. Most of the time, showing work will be expected and graded. Teacher discretion on points awarded. No retakes are available on quizzes.

  3. Tests: At the end of each chapter, a 100 point test will be given. Tests are in ALEKS. Most of the time, students will not be able to access worked examples and TWO attempts will be given. Most of the time, showing work will be expected and graded. Generally, there will be no notes available for tests. Extra time will be allowed as long as students have completed the practice test with an 85% or higher.

  4. ALEKS: A specific number of aleks topics will be assigned per quarter. Students will be allowed to complete extra topics for extra points. First Quarter: 30 topics required (up to 15 extra allowed)

  5. Benchmark Tests: Approximately each quarter (about every 2-3 chapters), students will take a Benchmark Assessment.

  6. Notes: We take notes during class. All notes will be available to rewatch on my YouTube channel. They will be posted on google classroom as well. This can be a great resource if students are struggling with a concept.

Absences

While I believe it is so important that students are at school every day, I understand that sometimes absences cannot be avoided - especially during these weird times. Assignments will be posted for students on google classroom. If we are taking notes, the videos will be uploaded to google classroom as well. If students miss a test, they will be expected to make that up upon their return.
