WHAT YOU CAN DO as a Parent...
- Check to make sure your child is doing his/her work. Students will be given a checklist to track their own progress and grades. They should be able to use this to show you their progress. This can be cross-referenced with Powerschool for accuracy.
- Make sure your child is using the resources available. While we may not take formal notes very often, there are many resources that can be accessed for studying. Most are accessible on the students' Connect Ed account. We will also use various instructional vidoes from the web.
- Help them study for tests. If they tell you that "you can't study for a math test," you know better. Again, there are many resources available, including practice worksheets, that can be used to prepare for tests.
- Reach out to me if you need direction. I'm always available and interested in helping your child reach his or her goals, so feel free to send me an email, tacketta@ksdr1.net, so we can talk about how to get everything on the right path.
Powerschool is a way for you to conveniently stay in touch with your child's graded performance. I try to post grades for all tests and quizzes by the next school day following the assessment. This is a great way for you to monitor your child's progress.
